HMC Project Calls

A key in activating and involving the Helmholtz community

In HMC, project calls are a tool to foster the continuous development of the HMC community. Projects are intended to be interdisciplinary organised and should actively involve the relevant HMC-Hubs. This practice ensures the integration of tools and solutions directly into the platform and the Helmholtz community.

The annual HMC project call funds cross-centre, interdisciplinary projects that address practical challenges in the field of metadata generation and data enrichment. The total budget for HMC projects is 1.2m€/year, financed by the Initiative and Networking Fund (INF). Funded Helmholtz Centres are required to co-finance the respective project by 50%.
HMC personnel support with networking and counsels on scope, implementation and generalisation of projects to ensure alignment with the HMC vision. Funded projects are regularly supported during the project phase and closely integrated with the personnel in HMC units. This creates knowledge and technology transfer and ensures integration of achieved results into the HMC portfolio.
