We are employees of the German Cancer Research Center in Heidelberg and develop concepts and technologies for metadata management in health research as part of the Helmholtz Metadata Collaboration (HMC) Platform. Here, we act as an interface between experts of the health domain and the HMC Platform.

We have set ourselves the goal to structure, standardize, and expand the collection and deposition of metadata in the health sector to increase the reproducibility, comparability, and transparency of data. Furthermore, we want to compare metadata internationally and develop interdisciplinary metadata standards.

For this purpose, we develop and establish tools and best practices for metadata management and support the research field health in all questions concerning metadata by providing information and training.

Eventually, we want to provoke awareness in the community that structured metadata or high-quality metadata management is of central importance for integrating data from the health sector and thus also for personalized therapy.
