Centers in the research field Health

The Research Field Health stretches across different Helmholtz research centers:

  • Max Delbrück Center for Molecular Medicine in the Helmholtz Association (MDC) - Berlin

  • Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research (HZI) - Brunswick

  • German Centre for Neurodegenerative Diseases (DZNE) - Bonn

  • Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf (HZDR) - Dresden

  • German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) - Heidelberg

  • Helmholtz Zentrum München - German Research Center for Environmental Health (HMGU) - Munich

HMC Hub Gesundheit is located with all members at its host-lab, the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ), anchored in the research department “Medical Image Computing” with methodological and engineering expertise in the area of Medical Imaging and Machine Learning. It is thus collocating with the DKFZ Helmholtz Imaging Service Unit “Applied Computer Vision Lab and Helpdesk”, and the science nit “Interactive Machine Learning Research Group”.

The German Human Genome-Phenome Archive (GHGA), which is an NFDI consortium, is also coordinated by the DKFZ and there are regular interactions on conceptual and implementation levels, as well as with the recently funded NFDI4Bioimage consortium.
