HMC project HERMES publishes first concept paper
This week, the HMC community project HERMES presented a first concept paper on automated publishing of software with metadata.
The project describes the current state of development in this field, automated workflows and the HERMES concept for harvesting, collation and publication of metadata when publishing software, especially on InvenioRDM and Dataverse-based systems.
Simultaneously with the publication of the concept paper, Hermes asks all interested parties for review and feedback. The concept paper can be found at https://arxiv.org/abs/2201.09015; review and feedback can be given via PubPeer: https://software-metadata.pub/concept-paper-community-reviews
The goal of the HERMES project is to help researchers publish their research software in a way that makes it findable, comprehensible, citable, and reusable. Key to this is the creation, curation, and deposit of extensive metadata with the software publications. To this end, the project will design, create, and deploy well-documented, ready-to-use workflows with automation interfaces and reference implementations for InvenioRDM and Dataverse.
