HMC @ HIFIS & friends All-Hands Meeting

On 12-13 September 2024, the „HIFIS & friends All-Hands Meeting“ took place at the German Aerospace Center (DLR) in Cologne, an internal event hosted by HIFIS (Helmholtz Federated IT Services), with representatives from the other four Helmholtz Information & Data Science Framework platforms also invited. The event aimed to foster cross-platform exchange and develop a better understanding of HIFIS's work.

The Helmholtz Metadata Collaboration (HMC) team attended with five members and presented the platform through a poster and a pitch. A key focus of the meeting was discussing common challenges, such as providing services and consulting for researchers within the Helmholtz community.

Exchange and Understanding HIFIS

Although the meeting primarily served internal communication within HIFIS, it offered a valuable opportunity for invited platforms to engage with HIFIS staff. The focus was on learning more about HIFIS’s work and how different platforms can align their activities.

For the HMC team, it was an important opportunity to recognize synergies and promote interdisciplinary collaboration, particularly in areas where IT services and metadata management must be integrated.

Looking Ahead

The HIFIS & friends All-Hands Meeting 2024 provided not only an insight into HIFIS’s activities but also an opportunity to build relationships that could be important for future collaborations within the Helmholtz community. The exchange helped deepen the understanding of the different platforms and develop joint solutions.
