HMC @ ESIP January Meeting 2025

27.01.2025

The Earth Science Information Partners (ESIP) are a community of practice with over 170 organizational partners working together to further environmental data science. This group is very important for HMC, as it is a unique opportunity to connect to our international peers in Earth Sciences.

As in every year, ESIP’s January meeting took place virtually on Jan 21-24, 2025. The program was arranged under the headline “Innovation to Impact” and spun topics from the whole breadth of research data, e.g. data sovereignty, networking of repositories, PID graphs, the implementation of schema.org or the prerequisites for machine actionable data to support AI and ML applications and many others.

As in the previous years, HMC was present with a poster highlighting a research showcase titled “Establishing Workflows to Engage Stakeholder Groups in PID Metadata Maintenance”, which you can find here.

The meeting covered a lot of excellent discussions, with an extremely friendly, interested and engaged community from data centers and libraries across the US, but also from Europe and Australia. We did learn a lot! We thus look forward to the next ESIP Meeting in July 22-25, 2025, in Seattle, WA and online.
