FAIR AIMS – Automated IGSN Management System

To enhance the accessibility and reliability of sample data, facilitate collaborative re-search and promote open science practices, FAIR AIMS has three main objectives:
Development of an IGSN Online Template Generator, a tool for guided sample metadata template generation of different sample types and a Template Upload Module with metadata quality checks during upload.
Discipline-specific and harmonised IGSN metadata profiles for EaE samples (FAIR WISH follow-on), visualised on IGSN landing pages and a metadata database to ensure consistent sample description entries for automated quality assurance processes.
Integration of IGSN registration in HZB sample database: development of metadata profiles for 1-2 sample types and proof of concept.
With the combined experiences from the Earth and Environment community and the domain knowledge of the material sciences at HZB we want to extend the application of IGSNs across research domains and demonstrate their widespread applicability.
FAIR AIMS is a joint project between the Helmholtz Centres GFZ, AWI and HZB funded within the HMC Project Cohort 2024.
