Fundamentals of Scientific Metadata for Energy
Helmholtz Metadata Collaboration (HMC) is all about boosting the quality of research data with the power of metadata – and we're bringing this approach to life across the entire Helmholtz Association. In this context, HMC is excited to offer the course Fundamentals of Scientific Metadata for Energy as part of the HIDS Data Science course portfolio.
This course is designed for scientists from the scientific discipline Energy, especially those working with datasets and is an adaption of the published modular course Fundamentals of Scientific Metadata. The course shows how important it is to annotate your data with standardized metadata to make it findable and reusable, thereby increasing the reach and impact of your research. The course also provides a practical example of registering metadata on the Open Energy Platform, which defines its own standards and ontology.
While the course is open to everyone interested, it is particularly aimed at researchers in the Energy domain seeking to move beyond silo thinking.

This year, for the first time, our courses are integrated into a joint course portfolio of the Helmholtz Information and Data Science Platforms (HIDS) Helmholtz AI, HMC, Helmholtz Imaging, HIDA and HiFIS. This portfolio contains learning paths on data science skills and competences that pick up learners at different levels of their knowledge and enable them to expand their data science skills. All HIDS courses are free of charge for Helmholtz employees.
