HMC Conference 2027: Call for Workshops Open
How can metadata help us interpret, connect, and make sense of research data?
The Call for Workshop Proposals for HMC Conference 2027 – From Metadata to Meaning is now open. The conference will take place 10–12 March 2027 at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) in Karlsruhe, Germany.
We invite proposals for community-driven workshops that explore metadata-related challenges through interaction, collaboration, and shared learning.
Workshops offer an opportunity to take the conference theme beyond presentation and discussion: participants can work together on how metadata creates context and meaning across disciplines, infrastructures, and applications.
We particularly welcome formats that build or strengthen communities, address shared challenges, encourage exchange across disciplines and infrastructures, or result in practical next steps. Workshops may take the form of tutorials, training sessions, collaborative discussions, hackathons, Birds-of-a-Feather sessions, or other participatory formats.
Workshops should be designed as 90-minute sessions for an in-person audience of up to approximately 30 participants and should actively encourage participation and exchange.
Proposals should relate to at least one of the HMC Conference 2027 Topics and will be reviewed by the Scientific Programme Committee.
Submission deadline: 15 November 2026, 23:59 CET
