HMC Conference 2027: Call for Abstracts Open
How does metadata create meaning in research?
The Call for Abstracts for HMC Conference 2027 – From Metadata to Meaning is now open.
From 10–12 March 2027, the metadata community will come together at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) to explore how metadata creates the context that allows research data to be understood, connected and reused by both – people and machines.
We invite researchers, data stewards, developers, and infrastructure experts to share their research, practical solutions, tools, and experiences. Contributions may address a broad range of topics ranging from semantics, standards, and metadata quality to research infrastructures, workflows, AI, Open Science, or community adoption.
Abstracts can be submitted in three formats:
Talks offer approximately 10 minutes plus 2 minutes for questions and discussion.
Posters provide an interactive setting for presenting results, approaches, and ideas.
Demo Posters combine a poster with the opportunity to demonstrate a functional tool, service, workflow, or prototype.
All accepted abstracts will be reviewed by the Scientific Program Committee and accepted abstracts will be published in the HMC Conference 2027 Book of Abstracts.
Presenters are required to attend the conference in person in Karlsruhe.
Submission Deadline: 15 November 2026, 23:59 CET
