HMC Project Kick-Off: REDataNet
REDataNet is up and running!
The new HMC project, REDataNet, has been officially launched with a kick-off event. Together with about 30 representatives from academia, government agencies, organizations, and companies, we presented the project’s goals and discussed initial ideas for its joint development.
A key takeaway from the discussion: There is a significant need for stronger collaboration in the area of location data for renewable energy facilities. Many stakeholders work with comparable data sets and face similar challenges—ranging from data quality and varying data standards to lacking interoperability.
This is exactly where REDataNet comes in. In the upcoming months, together with the community, we aim to
• bring together relevant stakeholders, datasets, and data processes,
• develop a common semantic metadata standard,
• create tools for collaborative data management, and
• support integration with existing research data infrastructures.
We look forward to a continued dialogue and to working with many dedicated partners to lay the foundation for FAIR, transparent, and interoperable location data for renewable energy facilities.
It was a successful kick-off – now the real work begins! If you have not managed to join the kick-off event but are interested in joining our network, please contact the project coordinator David Manske.
