Successful second virtual HMC Conference
From 10 to 12 October 2023 the second virtual edition of the HMC Conference took place. Over 130 participants joined the three day event focused on metadata.
An excellent kick-off for the conference was the first keynote by Natalia Manola (CEO, OpenAIRE) on “OpenAIRE – A participatory Open Scholarly Communication Infrastructure”. Afterwards several sessions provide a diverse insight into recent trends and works in the field of metadata – topics included recording and standardisation of metadata and use cases from the community. With 19 presentations and 29 posters, a broad spectrum was covered.
The second keynote by Prof. Dr. Michael Hoffmeister (HS Karlsruhe) on „Connecting industries by interoperable digital twins - How to realize Industrie 4.0 benefits with collaborative design of data and services” gave the opportunity to delve into the recent developments on digital twin in the private/business sector. At the end of the second day, HMC developments were presented, demonstrated and discussed in hands-on sessions.
The final day of the conference was dedicated to workshops developed by HMC Project and HMC Unit members. The topics of the workshops covered the Helmholtz Knowledge Graph, results from the projects ALAMEDA and MetaCook and the tool MARBLE that was developed at the Forschungszentrum Jülich in collaboration with the Institute of Energy and Climate Research.
After receiving positive feedback on the conference, we are looking forward to the next edition in 2024.
