EM Glossary Web Explorer: v2.1.0 release!
We are happy to announce that a major update to the EM Glossary explorer 2.1.0 is now live! You can view the upgrade and browse the explorer at www.emglossary.helmholtz-metadaten.de
The EM Glossary initiative aims to enable better collaboration between humans, devices, and algorithms in electron and ion microscopy by improving interoperability. The EM Glossary Explorer plays a key role in this effort, offering a user-friendly and always up-to-date interface to the glossary.
With this latest release, we wanted to make it even easier for the electron and ion microscopy community to navigate, implement, and adopt glossary terminology. One major improvement is the new breadcrumb navigation on the Explore page, which clearly shows the hierarchy between different terms. In addition, individual term pages now feature expanded sections with hyperlinks to subclasses and superclasses, allowing users to understand the relationships between concepts more intuitively and to move seamlessly between related terms in electron microscopy.
To help track ongoing changes, we have also added new ordering filters so that terms can be sorted by their most recent updates. The homepage now highlights recently added and updated terms as well, which is especially useful since we expect to publish three to four new OWL artifact versions each year (keep your eyes open for the next update). With all changes clearly displayed in the EM Glossary Explorer, staying up to date becomes effortless.
On the technical side, the backend of the Explorer has been completely rebuilt. All content is now drawn directly from the most recent OWL artifact, which serves as the definitive source for EM Glossary terminology.
We hope these improvements make the EM Glossary Explorer even more accessible and useful for the electron and ion microscopy community. If you have questions, need support, or would like to suggest features for future releases, please feel free to reach out – we are here to help.
